News from Oct 10, 2025

The official kick-off meeting of CRC 1772 took place on Oct 6th, 2025 with great enthusiasm and marks the beginning of our joint research journey.

We began with the first internal council meeting, during which the CRC’s internal regulations (“Geschäftsordnung”) were discussed and formally adopted. Further, Prof. Stephanie Reich (Physics Dept., Freie Universität Berlin) and Prof. Siegfried Eigler (Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Freie Universität Berlin) were confirmed as Spokesperson and Deputy Spokesperson, respectively.

The scientific highlight of the day was a lecture by Prof. Ado Jorio (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil) entitled “Nano-Raman Spectroscopy in 2D (hetero)Structures.” In his talk, Prof. Jorio presented his group’s pioneering work on tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) and its applications to graphene, transition-metal dichalcogenides, and related twisted and heterostructures, followed by an engaging discussion with the audience.

We concluded the day with a festive gathering and group photos, celebrating the launch of CRC 1772.

With the leadership team in place, we are now ready to further develop our management structure, fill it with life, and grow an exceptionally strong and collaborative research center.
